Tragedy in Wilson, NC: Mother and Teen Son Killed, Eldest Son Charged with Murder

In a tragic incident that has deeply affected the Wilson, North Carolina community, 50-year-old Dana Vanessa Jenkins and her 15-year-old son, Daryn Jenkins, were found deceased in their home on Snowden Drive on March 31, 2025. Authorities have charged Dana's eldest son, 25-year-old Da'ron Donta Jenkins, with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with their deaths.

Police responded to the residence around 5:30 p.m. after receiving a call and discovered the bodies of Dana and Daryn. Da'ron Jenkins was apprehended at the scene and is currently being held without bond at the Wilson County Jail. Notably, Da'ron had been released from state prison just a week prior, after serving time for larceny of firearms and multiple breaking and entering of vehicle convictions.
Family members and friends are mourning the loss of Dana and Daryn. Juanilla Kornegay, Dana's cousin and neighbor, described Dana as a "very sweet person" who "always smiled." She expressed shock and disbelief over the incident, stating, "I would have never thought he would do something like that."
Both victims were active members of the Mount Moriah Community Church in Wilson. Bishop Sherman Blandon remembered them fondly, noting their infectious smiles and involvement in church activities. He highlighted Daryn's participation in the church's media team and his regular attendance. The church plans to dedicate a youth service to pray for the victims.
Daryn was also a student at Beddingfield High School. The school has made additional counselors available to support students and staff during this difficult time.
