On May 15, 2025, R&B singer Chris Brown was arrested in Manchester, England, in connection with an alleged assault that occurred at a London nightclub in February 2023. The incident reportedly involved Brown attacking music producer Abe Diaw with a Don Julio 1942 tequila bottle at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, followed by punching and kicking Diaw, resulting in serious injuries. Brown was taken into custody at The Lowry Hotel and remains detained as investigations continue.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest, stating that a 36-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. Diaw has also filed a $16 million civil lawsuit against Brown, alleging lasting injuries and defamation.
This arrest adds to Brown's history of legal issues, including a 2009 felony assault conviction involving Rihanna and a 2017 restraining order obtained by ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran. At the time of his arrest, Brown was preparing for his “Breezy Bowl XX Tour” to mark his 20-year music career.
As of now, Brown remains in custody, and the situation may impact his upcoming tour dates. Further details will emerge as the investigation progresses.
