The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was founded, marking a significant milestone in the fight for civil rights

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) started its mission on February 12, 1909 to combat civil rights abuses.

The sad case of Isaac Woodard occurred precisely one decade after the NAACP's formation in 1946 when police officers from South Carolina blinded and beat the World War II veteran during an incident that sent shockwaves across the country to expose the pervasive racial discrimination of that time.

The sit-in movement initiated at Greensboro, North Carolina on February 12, 1960 expanded to Rock Hill, South Carolina for the purpose of achieving South-wide desegregation in lunch counters and public facilities.

On that same day in 1968 the Memphis sanitation strike started as African American sanitation workers demanded better conditions and pay benefits alongside equal treatment. National media followed this strike because it received strong backing from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The sequence of events demonstrates that American society continues its battle to achieve civil rights and social justice.
