Kolisha McIver, a 37-year-old wife, mother, and daughter, is in the fight of her life against a rare and debilitating condition known as Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN), also known as the suicide disease. This disorder affects just 0.08% of the global population. Often described by medical professionals as one of the most painful conditions known to mankind, Trigeminal Neuralgia has turned Kolisha’s everyday routines into daily battles.

Tasks most take for granted driving a car, brushing her teeth, or even speaking have become painful and sometimes impossible. At times, the pain is so severe that Kolisha has gone entire weeks with only four hours of sleep. “It’s like being shocked by electricity through the side of my face,” she describes. “And when it hits, I can’t talk. I can’t move. I can’t do anything but cry and pray.”

This relentless condition has not only impacted her physical health but has also taken a profound toll on her emotional and mental well-being. “It’s exhausting, and it tests your faith in ways you could never imagine,” Kolisha shares.

In her search for relief, Kolisha underwent a complex brain surgery in hopes of alleviating the pain. The operation provided temporary relief about six months of peace before the pain returned, even more aggressively.

While Kolisha has health insurance, it does not cover the full cost of her treatments, medications, and necessary procedures. The financial strain has forced her and her loved ones to seek help from the community.

In solidarity with Kolisha, The Black Insider has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to support her medical needs. Contributions will go directly toward helping her afford specialized care, pain management therapies, and everyday essentials that her condition has made difficult to access.

Kolisha’s story is a powerful reminder of how invisible illnesses can disrupt lives in unimaginable ways. Yet, it is also a story of resilience, faith, and hope. She continues to fight—not just for herself, but for every person silently suffering from chronic pain conditions that the world doesn’t always see.

Let’s come together to lift Kolisha up. Every donation, prayer, and share brings her one step closer to healing and hope.
