The Black faith and music community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 26-year-old Musician Michael Rigsby, a beloved organist for The Bridge Frisco, a campus of Bishop T.D. Jakes’ The Potter’s House in Frisco, Texas. Rigsby was reported missing over the weekend and was tragically found dead just days later, leaving behind stunned friends, grieving family, and unanswered questions.
Rigsby, known for his anointed gift on the keys and his faithful service to the church, had performed at The Free Man Lounge in Dallas on Saturday, June 21. According to reports, he gave two individuals a ride back to Frisco after the show one of his last known acts before vanishing. His family reported him missing the next evening after receiving a final text message from him at 5:19 a.m. on Sunday morning.
On Monday, June 23, Frisco Police discovered Rigsby’s body in the 8600 block of Hickory Street. His car was later found near that area. Authorities from both the Frisco and Irving Police Departments are jointly investigating the case. At the time of reporting, no official cause of death has been released, and police have not confirmed whether foul play is suspected.
The news has hit hard across Texas and beyond, especially in the church community. The Bridge Frisco released a statement remembering Rigsby as a “faithful and steady presence,” someone whose “music resonated with the spirit of God” and whose smile brought joy to all who knew him. They called for continued prayers for his family and promised to honor his legacy through worship and remembrance.
On social media, tributes poured in from fellow musicians, church members, and friends. “He was one of the most humble, talented young men I ever met,” wrote one local worship leader. “He didn’t just play the organ—he ministered through it.”

As a young Black man deeply involved in faith and the arts, Michael Rigsby’s life and tragic passing represent a powerful reminder of both the beauty and fragility of our most gifted community members.
